“Thanks for acknowledging who’s behind Ninoy’s death” , that was a tweet by Kris Aquino. She thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for “acknowledging” who was behind the assassination of her father.
Ninoy Assassination
Ninoy was assassinated in August 21, 1983 upon arrival at the then-Manila International Airport, now Ninoy Aquino International Airport, after a three-year exile in the United States. The death of Ninoy, who was a staunch critic of former strongman Ferdinand Marcos, sparked various protests and catapulted Corazon to the presidency in February 1986, following the first ESDA People Power Revolution.
Kris Tweet
Kris made the remark after Duterte said her mother, former President Corazon Aquino, only came to popularity “for losing the husband in hands of Mr. Marcos.”
In a tweet on Saturday evening, Kris posted a video slideshow of photos of Corazon and Ninoy, including the covers of Time Magazine editions in which her mother was featured.
