In the Philippines, the coronavirus (Covid-19) disease jumped to 31,825 confirmed total cases, today Tuesday, June 23, 2020, after the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) announced 1150 new cases.
Among the new cases of today, 789 were “recent” cases, those patients whose test results were done during the past three days, while 361 cases were marked as “late results”.
The total number of deaths is now 1,186 after 9 new deaths were registered today. Meanwhile, 299 new recoveries have been reported, raising the total number of survivors from Coved-19 to 8,442. This was the 13th consecutive day that the number of daily cured reached more than 200.
Why are daily new case going up ?
Although various community quarantine measures have been imposed for about 4 months, the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) is still reporting hundreds of new infections daily. The three-week continuous surge comes after the government eased community quarantine measures in most areas of the country, including the Metro Manila, which is the epicenter of the infection.
It is worth noting that the less strict closure called “GCQ” , is currently in effect until June 30, with the exception of Cebu city, and Talisay cities (which were again placed under the tightened social quarantine – ECQ) due to the high rate of daily infections, and the hihg number of critical cases.
Coronavirus (Covid-19) globally
Globally, more than 474,000 were died from Covid-19 till now, while total infections reached more than 9,200,000 confirmed cases. The recovered cases reached 4,957,000 cases.
