Thousands of Muslims in Metro Manila attend Eid al-Adha prayer

Eid al-Adha weather in Metro Manila

Eid al-Adha is one of the two main celebrations in Islam. More than a week before Eid Al-Adha were marked by bad weather. We – and all Muslims – in the Philippines are lucky that the weather improved since Saturday after the long rainy mornings of previous days.

Few days ago, Duterte – President of the Philippines – has declared August 12, Monday, a regular holiday across the country in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice. So Muslims have 2 days to celebrate; Sunday and Monday.

Eid al-Adha Prayer

During Eid al-Adha prayers , preacher reminded Muslims in the Philippines of lessons from the story of Abraham’s sacrifice of Ishmael. The lesson is to obey our parents and endure problems.

Prayers begin at the Eid’l Adha celebration in the Quezon Memorial Circle. Hundreds of Muslims gather at a covered court in the Quezon Memorial Circle for the celebration of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice. Last year, Duterte declared August 21, 2018 a holiday in observance of the Feast of Sacrifice. It coincided with the celebration of Ninoy Aquino Day, another holiday.

In MANILA

Hundreds of Filipino Muslims on Tuesday commemorated Eid’l Adha or Islam’s Feast of Sacrifice in Manila. The feast was held at the Quirino Grandstand, where they prayed and listen to the sermon of the Imam.
